HUB NUTS CLEAN UP

Filming Announced

Thursday 9 September 1999 and Team Hub Nuts were out in force with their feather dusters. All manor of small animals had made Sir Chromealot their home, eviction notices had been served and the spiders were made to leave. Our intrepid reporter Mr Remington interviewed a Slug seen leaving the Robot who said that the Robot was going to be filmed between 19th October & 31st October.

NUTS ABOUT LETTER

Dave was left holding the team together as Merrill booked another holiday, and Smith planted 50 trees to celebrate the long awaited arrival of the filming dates.

Dear Roboteer,

We are delighted to announce that Robot Wars Series III is now in full production and we have firm dates for the competition - October 19 to 31st 1999. ( As before, you will be required for between one and four days over this period.)

For reasons genuinely beyond our control, we have been unable to confirm the recording dates or the venue for the next series until now. We can only apologise for the repeated delays and our apparent silence over the last few months.

Now that contractual negotiations have been resolved, you can expect a string of further announcements relating to the international spread of Robot Wars, further live events, magazines and much more besides.

In order to accommodate more contestants, Robot Wars is being lengthened to a 45 minute show. A combat based knockout competition will decide the "British Robot Wars Champion (series III)". By popular demand every robot competing in the main heavyweight competition will have a chance to fight. There will also be other challenges featured in the show but they will no longer be compulsory.

Unfortunately due to the huge number of applicants this year, some of you may not be selected to take part in the main heavyweight competition. However, we are endeavouring to run other events in order to feature as many robots as possible, including additional weight classes (E.G. featherweight or super heavyweight), a sumo basho, a pinball competition and a soccer tournament - all with weapons of course. Grudge matches will also be featured and new for series III, alliance based anarchy with the Tag Team battles!

The letter goes on about filling forms in ETC. And finishes:

Thankyou for your patience over the recent months. I am well aware how frustrating the delay has been for you all, but rest assured that we are extremely excited about the prospect of producing, with your help, the best series of Robot Wars to date.
